Created by the great folks at Double Fine, Brütal Legend features both an open-world single-player campaign and a three-factioned multiplayer gameplay mode.

The single-player campaign centers around roadie Eddie Riggs (voiced by Jack Black) as he suddenly finds himself in a heavy-metal-inspired land. Discovering that Emperor Doviculus has enslaved humanity, Eddie must make several allies in an attempt to put an end to it.

The multiplayer mode pits two of the three factions (Ironheade, Drowning Doom, and Tainted Coil) against each other in, per Tim Schafer, "your typical head-to-head, battle of the bands scenario. But with axes." Units are controlled much like in a standard RTS game, but with the addition that your avatar is able to join in the fight and double-team with your units.
